Join Strathcona County as a Registration and Safety Coordinator and play a key role in delivering the 2026 Alberta Summer Games-a multi-sport event welcoming approximately 2,000 athletes, coaches, and technical officials!
In this role, you will lead the planning and implementation of participant and personnel registration, venue security, emergency response, medical coverage, overnight safety, and lost-and-found coordination leading up to and during the Games.
This position will work closely with the 2026 Alberta Summer Games Society, the Games Manager and Coordinators, the Government of Alberta's Provincial Multisport Games Unit, Strathcona County departments, and community partners to ensure all registration, safety, and medical services meet provincial standards and align with the County's policies and practices. The successful candidates' efforts will ensure a safe and memorable Games experience for everyone involved.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Games medical program, emergency communications, security and registration processes providing guidance and assistance to all 2026 Alberta Summer Games staff and portfolios
  • Plan and manage the Games Polyclinic and satellite medical stations at all venues including determining operating hours, personnel and equipment requirements
  • Liaise with the Games Manager and Games Coordinators to recruit, train, schedule and manage all personnel and volunteers required for the above areas
  • Liaise with Strathcona County Emergency Services, Games Coordinators and Provincial Sport Organizations for the development and execution of comprehensive venue and event emergency response plans inclusive of health, safety and weather contingencies for participants, guests, employees, volunteers, contractors and partners
  • Collaborate with RPC Marketing to facilitate all marketing and signage requirements
  • Work with the Government of Alberta to manage the Games registration system RAMP, including overseeing personnel tracking, registration and accreditation needs for participants, staff, volunteers, VIP's and contractors
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Post secondary degree in Recreation Administration, Event or Project Management, Business, or a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience in a leadership capacity within operations, event planning, facilities, community development, policy development or public engagement or a post-secondary diploma in one of these areas with 3 years of related work experience
  • ICS 200-300 training is an asset
  • Experience with sport medicine protocols and polyclinics is considered an asset
  • Facilitation and/or training experience (experience with balancing multiple stakeholder expectations is an asset)
  • Experience with municipal and provincial protocol, reports and processes is an asset
  • Experience with large scale event management or multi-sport games is an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Political acumen and experience supervising staff, volunteers, and/or community groups is an asset
  • Ability to be organized, multi-task, and provide leadership and decision-making in a fast-paced environment
