Job Description

The Native Studies Department is seeking qualified, Contract Academic Staff to teach the following three credit hour online, synchronous course during the Winter of 2026. This PENT class will run during Winter Term from January 7th to March 25th. Should the course include a final exam, that exam will occur on the last day of classes.



The instructor will be responsible for content delivery with expectations consistent with offerings of this course within the appropriate department. Qualified candidates must possess strong teaching, communication and organizational skills, and demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness.


68.302 Indigenous Methods, Research and Process Wednesday Evenings 5:00 - 8:00 PM



This course is designed to teach students how to do qualitative research, while incorporating Indigenous methods to conduct research with Indigenous Peoples and their communities. Students will learn how to design a study, including: selecting a topic; what types of data to collect; the importance of ethics (western & Indigenous); analyzing data; writing the research paper; communicating the results with the community; and ownership of information. Guest speakers will attend class to discuss their experiences as Indigenous researchers and the challenges and rewards they encountered doing research with Indigenous Peoples.


Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a minimum of a Master's degree in an area related to the topic of instruction. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master's degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee at the address below on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.


Salary

: $7857 per 3 credit hour course
