520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
This position is in a highly collaborative International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program school teaching Kindergarten. The successful applicant for this position must:
hold a valid BC professional teaching certificate;
be familiar with B.C.'s Early Learning Framework and passionate about supporting the holistic development of children with care and empathy;
have proven teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in Kindergarten in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP)
be familiar with the BC curriculum and Core Competency documents;
have experience teaching using an inquiry methodology;
have a clear understanding of the characteristics of Kindergarten and primary students and an ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of all students;
be familiar with a Universal Design for Learning approach and a deep commitment to providing the supports and encouragement for all students to be successful, including planning for English Language Learners and neurodiverse students;
have an understanding of self-regulation strategies to support all learners;
have the ability to teach reading and writing foundations through play-based, cross-curricular, and inclusive and multi-modal learning strategies;
practise formative and summative assessment and have a thorough understanding of assessment through backward design;
have a clear understanding of how student reflection plays an integral role in supporting learning;
have proven ability and commitment to work collaboratively and effectively with other educators in a highly collegial team setting;
have a strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders;
be deeply committed to implementing the Primary Years Program, which includes regular collaboration as well as participating in professional development offered by the International Baccalaureate;
be familiar with and have an interest in supporting the goals outlined in the West Vancouver Indigenous Enhancement Agreement.
