POSITION SCOPE:







The Early Years Educator must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). Under the direction of the Waasakwa Early Learning Centre Manager, this role supports families by delivering culturally grounded learning experiences that reflect and promote Atikameksheng Anishnawbek values. Working collaboratively, the Early Years Educator will plan and implement age-appropriate programming that fosters children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. All programming will align with the Organization's program statement and philosophy, the Child Care and Early Years Act, and be guided by frameworks such as Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) and How Does Learning Happen?




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:





Diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Minimum of 2 years' practical experience in early childhood education Experience in a variety of educational settings, including daycare centers, preschools, or other early learning environments Experience working with First Nation communities and understanding of cultural practices and values is preferred.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:





Develop and implement Early Learning Programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members Work with and supports the endeavors of the Drop In / Play Group for Early Years ages 0-6 Advises community members of new materials and activities through flyers and social media Prepare monthly program and statistical reports Monitor program expenditures and maintain tracking tool
