520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group
Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an intermediate program, with a focus and commitment to the new curriculum
Experience and a clear understanding of social and emotional learning and self-regulation
Knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology to facilitate a BYOD classroom and the integrated use of Google Classroom
An investment and interest in integrating S.T.E.A.M concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Science) and Design Cycle language into curriculum content would be an asset
A willingness to take risks and embrace a culture of innovation while taking advantage of the our Learning Commons, Makerspace materials, in accordance with the ADST Curriculum as outlined in the Ministry Guidelines
Knowledge and experience in working with Special Needs students and support staff with a focus on differentiated instruction in the classroom and demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;
Experience and broad knowledge of teaching and planning using inquiry-based, project based, and other student-centered approaches
Ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the Performance Standards and other criteria based rubrics
Effective classroom management skills that are student centered and focus on relationships and authentic connections
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
Demonstrate a willingness to work with the other members of staff in a collaborative manner
A strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders
