The
annual
salary
for
a
full-time
teaching
position
ranges
from
$59,711
to
$109,520,
with
placement
on
the
range
based
on
length
of
service
and
qualifications
in
accordance
with
the
collective
agreement.
Required
Qualifications
and
Experience
A full-time temporary position is available covering a teacher on a leave of absence. Overall, the successful candidate will exhibit:
The proven ability to plan, organize, manage and teach all aspects of an elementary band
program. Familiarity with B.C. Music curriculum and standards.
Experience with the use of inquiry based teaching models.
A proven ability and commitment to working cooperatively and effectively with students, parents and educators in a dynamic environment.
Skills in meeting the needs of a diverse group of learners, including ELL and students and neurodiverse students.
Knowledge of and ability to implement strategies that support self-regulation.
In particular, the successful candidate must have proven skill and experience in: The ability to interpret, read, and manipulate elementary concert band music.
Focused rehearsal techniques that successfully lead students through scheduled performances in
front of a range of audiences. Building community connections to enhance students' exposure to and involvement in the tenants of music.
Collaborating, teaching, and learning through digital resources to nurture and develop music environments that cultivate student creativity and passions
*Candidates
applying
for
this
position
must
have
a
high
level
of
training
in
the
field
of
music,
including:
A Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Music; Musical performance experience;
Professional level facility on one or more harmonic and/or melodic concert band and/or popular instrument(s);
Strong knowledge of proper vocal/choral sound reproduction;
Background with all concert band instrumentation including instrument range, key, and transposition;
The ability to arrange, manipulate, and compose harmonic and melodic content based on popular lead sheets;
A working knowledge of vocal production.
Hold a valid teaching certificate and be a member in good standing with the Teachers' Regulation Branch
