Job Summary

Participates in and supports the operational activities of a business unit. Applies experience and complete working knowledge of the job and policies/practices to perform a combination of routine tasks and varied administrative/operational assignments.



Please note in order to apply for this requisition you need to be enrolled in a post-secondary school with the ability to work 37.5 hours per week, meaning you are not going to school while working with RBC. If you are not currently a student you will not be considered for this posting.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for students starting May 13, 2024 -August 25, 2024 working with Personal and Commercial Banking. Please note if you have a Fall Co-Op following the summer term please indicate in the questionnaire.

Role #1- Banking Advisor Intern (Entry Level Position into P & CB)

Role #2- Relationship Manager Intern, Commercial Financial Services

(Senior Student Role \xe2\x80\x93 MBA Students & Business Commerce Students with a Strong Understanding of Credit) - Preference given to students available from May 13th \xe2\x80\x93 August 23, 2024 and Fall Term September 9th \xe2\x80\x93 December 13nd, 2024

Role # 1 - Banking Advisor Intern

What is the Early Talent Opportunity for Students?

The Banking Advisor Intern position is a 4 month program designed to give the successful student the foundation to build towards a successful banking career. After completing the training program, you will be able to further develop your unique customer service style and we encourage you to bring your best to our clients every day. In this role as you will learn how to provide financial advice to clients and find solutions that meet their individual needs. This head start program has the potential for second and third co-op or summer terms, leading to an opportunity to land a Full Time Career Position in the financial services industry with RBC upon graduation.

\xc2\xb7 Willingness to obtain the Investment Funds in Canada or the Canadian Securities Course

A Relationship Manager, Commercial Financial Services maintains relationships and delivers top-tier financial advice to RBC business clients. * They focus on the needs of businesses, aligns sales, products, risk policy, and market strategies to deliver solutions specific for individual needs.
  • Structuring new deals for clients, assessing risks, and negotiating terms.
  • Building meaningful relationships with business owners and providing expert financial advice.
  • They draw on their extensive financial analysis, credit, sales and service experience to provide business solutions, manage client portfolios and deliver exceptional service and financial advice to clients.
What is the opportunity for Early Talent Opportunity for Students?

As a Relationship Manager Student Intern, Commercial Financial Services you are in a proactive, face-to-face sales role in RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Commercial Banking platform. The program is based primarily in a Commercial Centre and work from home setting. A mentor is assigned to coach you throughout your training. This opportunity prepares you to deliver excellent, responsive, and proactive service to commercial business clients in the areas of accounts, operating services, credit, lending, and deposits. Your training occurs on-the-job, combined with self-study material, interactive online courses, and classroom training.

What will you do?
  • On the job training learning the Relationship Manager, Commercial Financial Services position through online learning and job shadowing
  • Duties Could Include;
  • Supporting CFS\xe2\x80\x99s in acquiring new clients in commercial markets and work closely with the RBC team in offering advice and customized solutions to meet client needs.
  • Working with the Vice-President, Commercial and the Relationship Manager, Commercial Financial Services to ensure that client presentations are well managed and create a positive client experience.
  • Direct clients to members of the entire RBC team to meet the needs of businesses and business owners.
  • Help acquire and promote external referral sources through networking, using your centers of influence and actively participating in marketing activities.

  • Financial acumen; ability to complete financial studies and risk analysis; experience in assembling financing solutions for the needs of clients with different levels of complexity
  • Strong sales orientation with a passion for fulfilling on client needs
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated to achieve above average results
  • Team player who contributes to team sales plans
  • Continuous learner with a deep curiosity about diverse customers and keeps up to date with changes in client needs, procedures and products
  • Able to work flexible hours and to meet with contacts, prospects and clients after business hours.
