Date Issued: June 22, 2023 Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office Assistant for the Faculty of Arts will provide support to full and part-time faculty members, to our students, and to the Dean of Arts Office as required. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a number of key duties which include but are not limited to: front-line reception; preparing correspondence, course information, and other print material; assisting with manuscript preparation for academic publishing; assisting with the preparation of grant applications; updating, creating, and maintaining webpages; organizing of the student assistant hiring process; handling course evaluations for faculty; and typesetting for the Canadian Journal of Native Studies, along with other relevant duties as assigned. Required Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum Grade 12 plus a one-year Office Administration Certificate or similar program and have at least 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 directly related experience. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work with numerous interruptions and to take direction; is a proven team player; is highly motivated; works well with little direct supervision; possesses superior writing skills; is a multi-tasker; self-starter; and can provide excellent customer service. The preferred candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, WordPress, and Publisher is required. Experience with typesetting software, or a willingness to learn, is required. *NOTE* Skill based testing may be required. This position is subject to a Provincial Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. These checks must be submitted in accordance with the Policy in order to maintain employment.
