Job Description

Hickman Automotive Group has an opening for two 1st Year Automotive Apprentices with our team at Hickman Chevrolet Cadillac in St. John's.As an Automotive Apprentice, the primary function is to perform standard vehicle repairs such as oil changes, replacing vehicle fluids, and other regular vehicle maintenance.Responsibilities

• Install and balance tires, perform basic vehicle inspections and lubrication services.
• Perform basic service recommendations.
• Perform regular maintenance on all makes and models.
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
• Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with Supervisor to determine the course of action
• Work in compliance with Company Health and Safety policies and OHS standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as a team member.

• Solid computer skills.

• Knowledge of approved and established procedures for conducting visual inspections, oil changes and tire rotations.
• Knowledge of and ability to comply with the quality control & inspection requirements of the Service Dept.

• Should be capable of working independently, managing his or her time and work flow.
• Must be well-organized and systematic.

• Ability to maintain effective communication with Service Consultants supervising Journeyman and Shop Foreman.
• Ability to identify vehicle problems during the visual inspection other than those on the work order or those described by the customer.

• Ability to estimate time of service or repair job for purposes of efficient scheduling.
• Ability to document repairs performed on completed customer service orders.
• Possess a valid NL Driver's License and has maintained a clean driving record.
