The English Education, Programs and Services division provides leadership, coordination, and support for kindergarten to Grade 12 teachers within the Public Schools Branch. The division supports student achievement in literacy and mathematics, as well as the implementation of curriculum using best practices. The English Education, Programs and Services Division is committed to supporting teachers through a system-wide coaching model. This position supports teachers with the implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction and assessment in elementary and consolidated schools.


Duties will include but are not limited to:




Support classroom teachers in the delivery of the curriculum using best practices in effective literacy instruction; Support teachers with the implementation of structured literacy instruction and programming Support DEEY literacy initiatives in schools by drawing upon quality research and evidence-based best practice; Collaborate in the development and/or review of instructional resources; Collaborate in the development and facilitation of ongoing professional learning; Support the team on the fulfillment of the priorities of the Department; and Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:




Applicants must have a degree in Education, preferably at the Masters level. Extensive recent experience teaching language arts at the elementary level (K-6). Preference may be given to teachers with extensive recent primary experience. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a PEI Teacher's Academic Certificate Level 5 or higher. Demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills as well as a collaborative approach to working. Successful applicant must provide an acceptable criminal record check prior to beginning employment. Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle and a good previous work/attendance record.

Other Qualifications:




Knowledge of early literacy gained through graduate work may be considered an asset. Experience teaching Fundations and other relevant classroom experience will be considered assets. Demonstrated experience leading professional learning workshops for would be an asset. This competition may be used to fill future job vacancies.
