The purpose of this position is to maintain Emergency Housing Shelter Site in a sanitary, orderly and attractive condition by performing various cleaning, and housekeeping duties At the Emergency Homeless Shelter under the supervision of the Shelter Manager.

Duties will include:



Wet/dry mopping and scrubbing floors; stripping and applying floor finish; vacuuming and shampooing carpeted areas; Washing various surfaces including walls, ceilings, interior and exterior windows, woodwork, shelves, etc; Cleaning and sanitizing all equipment (fridges and stoves) and furniture; Cleaning and disinfecting entire washroom areas and fixtures; Cleaning the common area and laundry area of sites; Gathering and removing garbage and delivering to designated collection points; Replenishing supplies, dispensable toiletries and house cleaning supplies in all locations as needed; Arranging furniture and equipment in orderly manner; Preparing vacated units for new occupancy; Notifying supervisor of equipment breakdown/problems and of required housekeeping supplies; Ensure that site/property is cleaned daily of any debris etc; Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:




Successful completion of Grade 12. Capable of sustained physical activity. A valid PEI driver's license. A good previous work and attendance record and an acceptable criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Other Qualifications:




WHMIS Training would be an asset. Some related cleaning/housekeeping/Maintenance experience is preferred. Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
