Who we're looking for




We are seeking a skilled Team Coordinator to work alongside the food services staff, providing support to the team and ensuring a positive experience for visitors, families and staff, to join our Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association Food Services team. This position is full time (30-40 hours per week) primarily afternoon shift 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday and flexibility for the occasional weekend shift as required, at Mountain Brew, located in the Juravinski Hospital.


We are looking for positive, energetic employees who are passionate about providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospital cafe environment with strong customer service skills.

What you'll do



Ensures that all customers are served in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner Provides ongoing training and reinforcement for all team members Maintain consistency in service and sanitation standards from shift to shift Communicates all relevant information regarding the cafe/ shop to the Food Service Manager or Senior Manager- i.e. disciplinary issues, accidents or injury Assists management with loss prevention by ensuring cash and product are secure at all times Ensures portion control and waste are monitored to ensure guidelines are followed Organizes staff duties and breaks as necessary Ensures that all Food Safety policies and procedures are adhered too, including recording of daily logs and cleaning schedules Acts as a leader for the team by enforcing all policies and procedures in a fair and respectful manner Covers shifts and arranges staff to cover shifts on off hours Monitors food/ product par levels and food quality to ensure standards are met and provides regular feedback to the Assistant Manager Is able to operate all food service equipment and provide guidance to staff Deals with issues relating to the POS system on off hours Ensures signage is clean, professional and updated following the promotional calendar

What you bring



2+ years of experience working in a food service environment Proven positive people management skills and ability to provide excellent customer service Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to provide supervisory support to the team Able to effectively utilize various computer applications including Outlook, Excel and Word Able to prioritize tasks, organize work, and take initiative Excellent conflict management and problem solving skills Food Handler's Certification or willing to take the course paid by the VA

The Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association is a non-profit organization that supports patient care at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) through the operation of cafes, cafeterias, parking facilities, gift shops and retail services across the organization. To clarify, we are not Hamilton Health Sciences, but rather a separate organization that works within the hospitals to generate profits to donate back to HHS to enhance patient care.
