Role:

Our client is currently seeking an experienced #101014 Business Analyst (Contract) in Edmonton, AB starting on or around October 2022 for a 5-month contract with possibility of extension at client's discretion. The work can be done remotely but resource must be available to attend onsite meetings when requested. The ideal candidate will have 8 years' BA experience translating business requirements to technical requirements (5yrs), identifying/analyzing business data, and creating flowcharts/diagrams (5 yrs). Previous experience (3 yrs) capturing/documenting business and technical metadata for data products would be a great asset. All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Mandatory requirements:

  • 5 years' experience working with clients/stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
  • 5 years' experience translating business requirements to technical requirements.
  • 5 years' experience creating flowcharts/diagrams/analyses, including but not limited to activity, process flow, data flow, entity relationship, mind map, roadmap/plan, gap analysis, organizational chart, SWOT analysis, RACI matrix, UI wireframes, user personas/journey maps.
  • 3 years' experience in developing, implementing, and operating Information and Data Management frameworks.
  • 2 years' experience dealing with business clients and technical teams and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner.
Desirable requirement (Nice to Have):
  • 5 years' experience working with clients/stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
  • 5 years' experience translating business requirements to technical requirements.
  • 5 years' experience in perform IT and/or business-related analysis, diagnosis, problem-solving, communication, presentations, planning, estimating, and documentation.
  • 5 years' experience assisting clients execute strategies with technology, process, organizational design, and IT operations.
  • 5 years' experience creating new technical and/or business processes.
  • 5 years' experience in Direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis related to 4 or more of the following areas: (1) Data management, acquisition, preparation, quality and data lineage/provenance, (2) Data modeling, ingestion, ETL, ELT, data joins (3) Data manipulation/transformation, cleansing and wrangling (4) Data security, data privacy, policies, data de-identification/anonymization, data audits/reviews, synthetic data (5) Data analysis, data analytics, data visualization, data science, data mining
  • 3 years' experience with BI/data visualization tools (above and beyond spreadsheet software) as an end-user and/or in projects to implement such tools in a large enterprise environment.
  • 3 years' experience in planning, monitoring, documenting, and performing User Acceptance Testing.
  • 2 years' experience working on multiple projects currently, spanning multiple technical environments.
  • 3 years' experience developing training strategies and materials and delivering training.
  • 2 years' communicating with multiple levels of staff directly and/or in meetings, including management and executives.
  • 2 years' experience in communicating with multiple levels of staff directly and/or in meetings, including management and executives.
  • 2 years' experience in leading or facilitating meetings (and workshops) with clients or stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile Projects.
  • Experience with data governance.
Education (Must Have one of the following combinations):
  • University graduation in business, management, OR a related discipline and 4-yr Technical Business Analyst (BA) experience; OR 2-yr diploma in business, management, OR a related discipline and 6-yr BA experience; OR 1-yr certificate in business, management, OR a related discipline and 7-yr BA experience; OR 8-yr BA experience.
