Role:

Our Client is currently seeking an experienced #100997 IT Storage Analyst (Contract) in Edmonton, AB starting on or around October 2022. for a 6-month contract. Possibility of extension at client's discretion. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience as a Storage Analyst managing and supporting system data storage, back-up/restore, and file systems. Previous experience (3yrs) deploying, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting Hadoop/Spark, Linux, Kerberos, Active Directory, and LDAP would be an asset. Two (2) years' experience deploying, configuring, administrating, hardening, performance tuning, and troubleshooting Linux (RHEL or CentOS) would be an asset. All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining system data storage and retrieval procedures, managing system back-up and restore operations, determining system capacity and compatibility based on system performance results.
  • Provide file system services (file structure, access, sharing, quotas, and security rights).
  • Maintain Distributed File System, personal, shared and roaming profile file system support.
  • Maintain, support and enhance enterprise storage software/hardware products under the supervision and direction of the Storage Operations Team Lead.
  • Provide support for backup and recovery services including the hardware and software required to manage an environment of more than 1500 client nodes.
  • Maintain/update storage procedures, processes documentation, configuration diagrams and spreadsheets.
Mandatory:
  • 3 years' experience with Hadoop/Spark. Experience deploying cluster, add, and remove nodes, keep track of jobs, monitor critical parts of the cluster, configure name-node high availability, schedule and configuration, data backup and recovery, and system and information security.
  • 2 years' experience deploying, configuring, administrating, hardening, performance tuning, troubleshooting Linux (RHEL or CentOS)
  • 2 years' experience with Kerberos, Active Directory, LDAP. (Preferably in relation to Hadoop security or security in a Unix/Linux/Windows heterogeneous environment.)
  • 2 years' experience with SQL (any or all: SQL Server, Oracle, Hive, Impala, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, etc.).
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Desirable:
  • 2-year experience with Hadoop/Spark concepts and tools (e.g., Ambari, YARN, HDFS, Hive, Pig, Ranger, Knox, MapReduce, HBase, Zookeeper, etc.)
  • 2-year experience with Apache enterprise-wide big data technology projects for large organizations.
  • 2-year experience with IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • 2-year experience coding with Python.
  • 2-year experience with and good understanding of JVM (Java Virtual Machine), Garbage Collection and settings, debugging JVM logs.
  • 1-year experience with Configuration Management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
  • 1-year experience with Version Control (e.g., Git, etc.)
  • 1-year experience with Containers and Container orchestration (Docker)
  • 2-year experience with Virtualization (VMWare, KVM/libvirt).
  • 2-year experience with High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Scalability.
  • 2-year experience with application and system performance optimizations and relationship between system and application performance counters.
  • 3-year experience with Network and Local Storage, file systems, etc.
  • 1-year experience with Java and CLI (command line interface) for initiating jobs in the cluster.
  • 2-year experience coding with Java.
  • 2-year experience administering and/or using Azure and its related components and applications.
  • 2-year experience administering and/or using Snowflake.
Education (Must Have one of the following combinations):
  • University degree + 4-yr relevant experience; OR 2-yr diploma + 6-yr relevant experience. OR 1-yr certificate + 7-yr relevant experience; OR 8-yr relevant experience.
