The

Manager of Technology Services

occupies a pivotal role within Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS), bearing responsibility for supporting the technology team in the pursuit of strategic vision, operational management, cybersecurity, and the continuous improvement of all technology services and infrastructure. This encompasses the oversight of network operations, core systems, and the integration of technology within the educational environment. The Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Learning Services to model and lead the performance and delivery of technology support, implementation, and the strategic direction of RDCRS technology infrastructure.







Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools serves over 10,650 students across 21 schools in Red Deer, Blackfalds, Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail, and Olds. The Division is dedicated to providing comprehensive learning opportunities to children and families, delivered within the framework of Catholic teachings and aligned with the Division's resources.





It would be advantageous if the successful candidate can demonstrate:



Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. An analytical and innovative approach to utilizing data for problem-solving within established procedures. A profound understanding of cybersecurity, network design, and network administration. A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to remain current with emerging technologies, critically assessing their potential benefits and integration into the school environment. The capacity to swiftly identify, diagnose, and resolve intricate technical issues, thereby minimizing downtime and sustaining productivity. The ability to formulate and articulate a vision for the school division's technology that aligns with educational goals, adheres to best practices for efficiency, and anticipates future technological requirements. Proven experience in personnel management and leading team initiatives within a positive work environment, demonstrating both collaborative engagement with the technology team and effective task delegation.
It is imperative that the IT Manager possesses a collaborative team mentality to provide hands-on support to the division in cybersecurity initiatives, hardware and software support, and network troubleshooting. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulatory requirements, establishing best practices in IT governance and cybersecurity.

Leadership and Management:



Collaborate with the Director of Learning Services to comprehend the strategic vision and objectives of the organization. Translate these into actionable plans and initiatives within the IT and Cybersecurity domains, ensuring the alignment of technological advancements with organizational needs. Provide leadership to the IT team, cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and service excellence. Continually evolve and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including comprehensive testing and documentation. Ensure that team members possess the requisite skills and resources to deliver high-quality customer service and sustain operational efficiency.

IT Operations:



Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of IT systems, including networks, servers, and both cloud-based and on-premises systems, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. Lead infrastructure projects and initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, and expansions, while adhering to established best practices and industry standards. Develop and maintain documentation for technical procedures, administrative processes, and configuration management. Manage implementation projects and technology rollouts.

Cybersecurity Management:



In collaboration with the Director of Learning Services, manage cybersecurity initiatives and practices, ensuring the protection of the company's IT infrastructure against cyber threats. Implement and enforce security policies, controls, and procedures to safeguard information technology assets. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate potential risks.
Team Management:


Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering professional development and growth opportunities. Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues in a timely manner.
