Basic qualifications to teach in the Junior and Intermediate Divisions
Special Education Part I
Preferred Requirements:
Special Education Part II or Specialist would be an asset
Additional qualifications in Reading would be an asset
A sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the above listed divisions
A repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment with members of the staff, system team, community agencies and parents
A sound knowledge of the IEP and IPRC processes and the planning for specific exceptionalities as well as experience with Special Equipment Amount (SEA) processes
A proven ability to implement effective inclusive instructional strategies that meet the needs of students with multiple exceptionalities and support these strategies with other teachers in classrooms
Knowledge, experience and commitment to integrating a variety of digital learning technologies and related applications effectively into instructional practice
An understanding of the Ontario Catholic Curriculum and effective strategies to teach Literacy and Numeracy
Knowledge and experience in implementing the principles of Universal Design for Learning, including using a balanced literacy and numeracy program and the use of student data to drive instruction
Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies, including Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) techniques and the "Tools for Life" program
A willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties
A commitment to being an active participant in the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement
Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the school environment would be an asset
