The Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Director of Protective Services the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the City with the development of its Community Safety Strategy as part of a pilot project being conducted in conjunction with Manitoba Justice.

Job Duties

1. Protective Services Initiatives:

  • To assist in the creation and composition of the City\'s Community Safety Strategy.
  • Assist with the creation of community safety related public information templates and educational resources.
  • Assist with information collection and input regarding City assets.
  • Conduct research regarding community safety standards and best practices.
  • Engage and consult with stakeholders in both the public and private sector.
  • Assist with revision and update of any other documentation as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

1. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Minimum qualifications shall include:
  • Current enrollment of as a post-secondary student at an accredited university. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a Criminal Justice or similar program.
  • Ability to preform research and compile analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver\'s License
Comments

This is for a casual position ranging from July to September 2023, with the hours of work operating
from Monday to Friday. This position is excluded from the Collective Agreement and is open to all
applicants.
