The Near North District School Board is Hiring!

0.4 Temporary Itinerant Library Clerk - North Region

Effective Immediately to June 26, 2026 or the earlier return of the employee

Location: North Region, North Bay and surrounding communities including Sturgeon Falls and Mattawa

This position is primarily located at Phelps Central Public School & Silver Birches Public School on Day 4 and 5 of the Elementary School Calendar (approximately 2 days per week). School calendar can be made available as requested.

The Library Clerk will maintain a safe and secure operation of the school Library conducive to learning, while upholding all school and library policies. The Clerk will assist students and Educators with book circulation, finding suitable and appropriate level books, book talks and read-alouds, research on the NNDSB Virtual Library, use of the Online Library Catalogue and Education Technology related tools and software. The clerk is responsible for accurately cataloguing and processing new school library materials, book maintenance, book displays and assisting with collection development.


A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license is required. Mileage will be paid for travel as per NNDSB Admin Guidelines for Travel, Meals and Hospitality Expenses.

Skills Required

:


Strong computer and keyboarding skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, email and education technology related tools and devices Working knowledge of the NNDSB Library System Library technical skills including knowledge of Dewey decimal system Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Excellent communications skills, both written and oral: the ability to communicate and work effectively with students and staff Must be able to work with minimal supervision Ability to safely carry and lift boxes

Qualifications

:


Minimum Grade 12 education 1 to 3 years' experience in an educational library environment

Rate of pay

:

$27.41 to $28.69 per hour
