The Career Transitions and CLC 12/Capstone Teacher is a 0.125 FTE annualized position based out of L V Rogers Secondary School. This position supports the design and delivery of SD8's dual credit and trades-focused Career Life Connections 12 programming. The teacher will guide students, specifically those in Youth Train in Trades and dual credit programs in an online learning environment through to their capstone presentations upon their program completion.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Mentorship
Deliver a CLC/Capstone 12 curriculum aligned with the Ministry Career Education Guide and SD8 Career Development priorities, with a focus on trades and dual credit career pathways.
Mentor students as they develop capstone projects aligned with their youth train in trades college program experience, post-secondary plans, and graduation requirements.
Guide students through self-assessments, evidence collection, core competency development, and capstone presentations.
Support students who wish to present their youth train in trades or dual credit capstone in tandem with the district dogwood scholarship
Program and Partnership Support
Promote inclusive access for Indigenous learners, students with disabilities/diverse abilities, and students in care.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience
a) Professional teaching certificate as recognized by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care
b) Exemplary leadership, interpersonal, organizational and consultation skills
c) Possession of a current valid BC Driver's License or reliable means of travel between sites
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
trades/technical experience an asset
Minimum 3 years of experience in secondary schools, including teaching or coordinating career education or transitions programming
Familiarity with trades training and dual credit procedures
Familiarity with capstone criteria and the Career Education 10-12 Guide
Reporting Structure
The Career Transitions and CLC 12/Capstone Teacher reports to the principal of LV Rogers Secondary school and liaises with the District Principal of Innovative Learning Services for career development and trades training program alignment.
Schedule:
Approximately 200 minutes per week (3.2 hours) for curriculum, assessment, and student contact in an outside the timetable (OTT) blended format, with flexibility built in for capstone presentations.

Salary Range; $63,367 - $111,488 per year, in accordance with the current SD8-Kootenay Lake / KLTF Collective Agreement. Placement on the salary grid is based on qualifications and years of teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service (TQS).
Applicants must be certified in British Columbia with a Professional Teaching Certificate, or be eligible for certification by the start date of the assignment.
